Iconic Architecture. Iconic Design. Iconic Stories.

Welcome to Iconic Magazine!

Why Iconic? Because while Portland & Oregon have many icons—Mt. Hood, the Portland, OR sign—our greatest icon comes in multiples: the striking diversity of architectural styles that enrich our neighborhoods, cityscapes, towns and historical parks. Since 1997 Arciform has listened to the stories that our time-honored buildings and houses have to tell.

Combining history with the stories of new owners, anticipating new purposes, we have redesigned, remodeled, restored and reinvigorated the older buildings we love, preserving and enhancing their stories for present and future generations. Since 1997 is a long time.

We have a lot of Iconic stories to tell you. We hope you enjoy!

ISSUE 3.2

In this issue, we celebrate the creative power of collaboration in design, highlighting key partnerships that bring exceptional projects to life. Our feature article explores the transformation of a mid-century home, where the client’s, designer’s, and local artist’s close involvement and diverse perspectives led to a stunning redesign. In the Arcifiles, we focus on the vital role of collaboration with photographers like Chris Dibble, whose ability to capture the essence of interior spaces strengthens the designer-client relationship. We also examine the synergy between designers, clients, and craftsmen, such as Arciform’s custom cabinet team, showcasing how the integration of creativity and craftsmanship elevates both function and beauty. At every step of the process, collaboration is truly the cornerstone of successful, timeless design.

Introducing the ArciFiles

Over the decades, Arciform and sister company Versatile Wood Products have worked on a diversity of buildings. But who are the team members who see those projects through? We thought it was time to listen to their stories. DNA + Creativity = Timeless Design

“We wanted our house to look like a well-taken-care-of house that's 120 years old, not a new house with the style of a house that's 120 years old,” said Arciform founder Richard De Wolf of the Isam White house that he and Anne De Wolf purchased. Their approach to the home exemplifies the Arciform approach to renovation. Listen to the stories of the building and its previous owners. Pay attention to the DNA of the style, use it to guide creativity, and the result is timeless design. Read more in Issue 3 of Iconic Magazine.
