A phased renovation
The balconies bolster the symmetrical facade of this highly-detailed exterior complete with a turret.
Stairs at the new wrap-around porch were rebuilt to provide safe access to the side yard.
We restored the original grand staircase, and reconfigured the adjacent ante room to include a coat closet.
A soapstone counter and zellige tile complement mixed grain fir cabinets with salvaged glass by VWP in the new Butlers Pantry.
A new layout, box beam ceiling, and bank of windows transformed what used to be two small kitchens into one.
Custom wood windows, paint and a refinished floor lift this light-filled sunroom with a view of the city.
Deeply-stained fir cabinets by VWP contrast with serene white walls and trim in the new dressing room.
Luminescent marble, onyx and antiqued mirror make this bathroom feel like it sits in the clouds!
The rebuilt back porch boasts beautifully-painted millwork while providing a sheltered view of the yard.
Historic Portland 1883 Queen Anne Victorian Undergoes Meticulous Renovation
Arciform undertook a phased renovation of the house, preserving its original architectural details and timeless craftsmanship. Most notable among the preserved features is a decorative window created by Povey Brothers Art Glass Works, known as the "Tiffany of the Northwest" for being Oregon's first decorative window company.
Great care was taken to repair, re-glaze, and upgrade all the existing windows with new ropes, pulleys and storm windows.
Also preserved was the intricate woodworking, including a staircase with contouring banisters that ascends from the main level to the second-floor landing.
The renovated house retains 12-foot ceilings and the original charm, while incorporating modern upgrades like a new kitchen, butler's pantry, and seating areas in the front bay windows. There are now five bedrooms and three bathrooms across three levels. To learn more about this restoration, be sure to read our feature on Oregon Live
